The closing show for Day 3 at Lagos Fashion and Design Week was Mai Atafo‘s menswear collection called “Village International – A Story of an African Man without Borders”.
After the runway show, we watched a teaser for the designer’s #FollowMAIHeart Campaign for his bridal line, Weddings by Mai Atafo featuring media girl Bolanle Olukanni. Shortly after, we were surprised with a Beauty and The Beast dance routine on the runway by the designer and a dancer dressed as Disney princess, Belle, in a yellow dress.

The designer’s name appeared twice on the LFDW schedule this year, the second time being for his private presentation on Saturday the 29th, for the Weddings by Mai Atafo Heart Collection. Here’s what they told us;
We are excited to share, ‘The Heart’ collection is our most personal bridal collection till date.
This is because the collection was inspired by heart decisions of real brides when they got engaged. Unfortunately, these decisions changed because the dresses were not conventional or traditional enough for various reasons.
We at Weddings by Mai Atafo like to believe we make wedding dress dreams come true so we decided to make the dresses that spoke to a few brides’ hearts, which they sadly couldn’t bring to life.

We’re anxious to see what the full campaign and what Weddings by Mai Atafo has in store for us. I wonder if each look will be inspired by a Disney princess? Just a thought.
