The 2018 rendition of the Pirelli Calendar is a modern homage to Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, photographed by Tim Walker, it is just as intriguing as in years gone past. However, this year’s edition starred an all-black cast of unmistakable names including Naomi Campbell, Whoopi Goldberg, Lil Yachty, Lupita Nyong’o, Sean Combs (P Diddy) all styled by British Vogue‘s new editor Edward Enningful.
It also featured some notable Africans making strides in the fashion and entertainment industries like South Sudanese-Australian model Duckie Thot, South African model and lawyer Thando Hopa and Ghanaian-British fashion model and feminist activist Adwoa Aboah – who is on the cover of the recent British Vogue, Edward Enninful’s first issue as editor in chief.
So it was fitting that the red carpet gala launch of the calendar that held recently offered a timeless take on sophisticated party style.
