I recently got back from a trip to Ghana and thought I’d share my favorite style moments and what to wear if you go! I went there just for the weekend and even though I have actually been once before, I don’t think I can ever get tired of exploring Ghana.
This time, I found a pretty space in the Cantonment area in the heart of Accra; the Embassy Garden Suites. It had a beautiful view and a picturesque interior. For a day of exploring, we enjoyed great music and yummy street food at the Labadi beach.
Because it is summertime, I packed a lot of bright coloured outfits as well as comfortable footwear. But I let my hair do all the talking – my fro, which is the same one I used during Arise Fashion Week 2019 is from Nappy Kulture.
I opted for a bandeau top and shorts set from Zaful paired with simple sandals and a cross body bag from Saint Salem. I carried a denim jacket just because it started to get windy at the beach.
If you have time in Accra, you definitely have to explore the nightlife. It is almost as bubbly as it is in Lagos (they have Uber there so it’s super safe). After dinner, we headed out to Twist for drinks and dancing and retired at a Nigerian owned lounge Exhale – good cocktails and great music.
For the night, I wore a full yellow ensemble; one-shoulder midi dress from Oh Polly paired with a mini bag from Haute Signatures. Even my phone case followed the yellow theme.
On the final day, we took a 2-hour road trip to the Royal Senchi Resort, Akosombo – the perfect getaway. When you go to Ghana you MUST explore the outer regions to have the full experience. This was definitely one of my favorite parts of my trip.
We had champagne on a boat ride on the Volta River, took in the view from a tree house and enjoyed a yummy buffet, which included an impressive inter-continental spread.
My outfit of the day was a neon green cover up with a Boohoo swimsuit underneath, the same Saint Salem bag which I styled as a waist pouch, a woven hat and sunnies.
