Tongoro announced its first ever collaboration earlier this year—with none other than international influencer and editor of All the Pretty Birds Tamu McPherson, and to say we were excited was an understatement. With behind the scenes snippets and videos the designer Sarah Diouf gave us a taste of what we could expect from the highly anticipated collaboration (vibrant prints, fluid silhouette, tonnes of colour), and with a mini digital campaign aptly named Tongoro Summer, we got a head start in planning our wardrobes for when the full collection was unleashed.
The Tongoro fashion universe spans menswear, womenswear, jewellery and leather goods. And the tropical-inspired pieces from the Tongoro x Tamu collection which launched in late October, runs the gamut, from on trend tie dye tops to plunging day gowns. The prices also vary, ranging from €50 to €200, according to their website. Speaking on the collaboration Tamu said:
I’m honored and grateful to finally share my collaboration with @tongorostudio for the launch of the Tongoro CollabX Series. I met founder @dioufsarah many years ago in Paris, and I was immediately inspired by her brilliant, sweet energy. As I got to know her better, her resourcefulness would impress me time and time again, as would her determination and courage. I often ask myself is there anything that she can’t do, once she sets her intentions? She truly represents the new generation of young fashion entrepreneurs elevating the Made In Africa label. This capsule collection represents a union of our respective visions, energy, roots, memories and style passions. I hope you love it!
Xo,
Tamu
