Multi-faceted personality Eniafe Momodu has always stood out in his craft and the crowd. From the scene-stealing outfits that are peculiar to him to his staggering height. It doesn’t take much for Eniafe to be the centre of attention. He is simply a style icon, and Vogue magazine recognises this too.
The publication recently caught up with him for a feature. In this interview, he talks about his style influence, fashion philosophy, the size inclusivity in the Lagos fashion scene and much more.
Trust Eniafe to appear in eye-catching prints that he pulls off effortlessly for the feature. He nails his first look with a custom peacock print agbada from Banke Kuku, which he pairs with traditional beads and gold jewellery. The entire look speaks of how rich and colourful Nigerian culture is.
For his second and final look, Eniafe wears a vintage agbada from Alàra. This time he completes the ensemble with a single gold pendant.

On his style influence:
My style is often described as grand, larger-than-life, and reminiscent of André Leon Talley. My typical silhouette involves something long and free-flowing. There’s a certain ease of movement that I try to convey through my style, which also speaks to my personality.
On size Inclusivity in the Lagos fashion scene:
I would not describe fashion in Lagos as particularly size-inclusive. However, thanks to the prominent bespoke culture in Lagos, the ready-to-wear industry and its shortcomings do not have as totalitarian an influence on our clothing as they do in other parts of the world.
People here regularly turn to the made-to-measure industry and employ local tailors to create clothing for special occasions like weddings, funerals, and birthdays, as well as for their day-to-day traditional attire.
