Today, Prime Video premiers a new series based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic “The Lord of the Rings, The Rings of Power.”
There’s been a lot of global buzz surrounding this new series, with events around the world, such as a premiere in Mumbai and more recently in London and from what we hear, Africa is not being left out of the action.
Word has it that Prime Video will be hosting a series of Watch Parties with some of Africa’s biggest names in Nigeria and South Africa today, all happening at the same time. Now that’s a first!
At BellaNaija Style, we are all about fashion and we’ve received a serious scoop about what the hosts in Nigeria will be wearing for the night.
The Nigeria Watch Party will feature 6 hosts – Falz, Timini, Tobi Bakre, The Geng, Stephanie Coker & Real Warri Pikin (Prime Video Naija let us in on this with a cheeky tweet yesterday). The hosts sent out personal invitations to their friends. We got a sneak peek at the invitations and noticed an enclosed lookbook for each guest curated by the designer who will be styling the hosts.
While we await the big reveal, we can expect looks from these designers:
Emmy Kasbit for Falz TheBahdGuy
Emmy Kasbit was founded by Emmanuel Okoro, a fiercely independent fashion designer. In his collection, Emmy Kasbit combines fabrics created by indigenous Nigerian weavers employing traditional West African techniques, together with bold, architectural silhouettes. The outcome is an amazing contrasting arrangement of strong lines, brilliant colours, and varied textures.
ATAFO for Stephanie Coker Aderinokun
Atafo (formerly Mai Atafo), a seasoned menswear and womenswear design brand with a number of features in shows across the globe including Lagos Fashion Design Week, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Africa, Spring Fashion Show Paris, Glitz African Fashion Week Ghana and more.
The Brand is known for showcasing richness through bespoke tailoring. With Atafo, we can expect structured silhouettes, bold colours and an impeccable fit. This is one look we cannot wait to see.
UGO MONYE for Tobi Bakre
Ugochukwu Monye, a renowned Nigerian fashion designer who founded Ugo Monye, is the creative director of the brand. Known for its strong, distinctive, and cutting-edge designs driven by African culture while providing contemporary luxury. Known to set trends, will Tobi’s look be another Ugo Monye hit?
Banke Kuku for Timini Egbuson
Known for mixing West African and Western cultures to create a sense of a modern Africa, Banke Kuku is a leading Nigerian fashion label with a spectacular kaleidoscope of colour and vitality in its design approach. The brand is named after its founder, Banke Kuku who has collaborated with fashion businesses such as Duro Olowu and others and has been worn by celebrities such as Michelle Obama and Lupita Nyongo, as well as hitting the runway during New York Fashion Week. This is an interesting choice for Timini, but he definitely has the swag to pull it off.

Launched in September 2015, Imad Eduso is a womenswear company based in Lagos. The brand’s aesthetic focuses on producing timeless looks with modern colours and trends to produce wearable items. Focusing on creating sophisticated, vibrant, and practical pieces for the modern woman. Loving this choice for the RealWarriPikin.
Emmanuel Goodnews for The Geng
Emmanuel Goodnews, the creative lead behind budding streetwear brand and fashion label – Just Icon, and the official stylist of The Geng.
Goodnews is a young creative, stylist, and all-around fashion enthusiast, who oversees the fashion vertical for the brand, birthed by his drive for youth involvement, development and empowerment through skill acquisition. For the watch party, Goodnewx curated unique looks for each of The Geng members. Clearly, he is one to look out for.
