The African Fashion International Johannesburg Fashion Week, one of the biggest fashion events in South Africa, kicked off at the Sandton Convention Centre and will run from 10th to 12th of October. In a statement from the brand:
“AFI believes in the promise of Africa. With the recently concluded continent-wide AfCFTA (African Continental Free Trade Area), the continent has a large enough market to increase intra African trade,” said Precious Moloi-Motsepe.
The event which kicked off with dazzling shows on Thursday saw some the best designers from across Africa in a special showcase presented by the Motsepe Foundation which included Mai Atafo from Nigeria, South Africa’s David Tlale, Gavin Rajah, Kahindo,Eric Raisina, LaurenceAirline, MarianneFassler.
The opening show saw performances from renowned artists such as Cassper Nyovest, Femi Kuti and the highly popular Ndlovu Youth Choir, with a special Pan African menu designed by Chef Coco of Epicure Restaurant.
