Last weekend, all roads led to the Lagoon Restaurant on Ozumba Mbadiwe as Africa Fashion Week Nigeria celebrated five outstanding years of a successful platform which has promoted emerging and renowned fashion designers in Africa.
It attracted fashion lovers from all over Africa and Nigeria at large. The fifth edition featured over 60 designers from Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Republic of Congo, Botswana, Cameroun, India, UK and Nigeria. The first day of AFWN kicked off with the business of fashion seminar with keynote speaker Uche Nnaji, the CEO of Ouch!.
For the panel discussion titled “Building a Fashion Business in Nigeria“, Joshua Ogbimi (Beckley Consulting), Mimi Hassan, Abasiama Idaresit (Wild Fusions) and Mrs Bolaji Oluwasola, (deputy manager Gender Business Group at Bank of Industry), shared insights on building a fashion brand and accessing the fashion funds from BOI, while also citing their own personal experiences as professionals who have built reputable businesses.
