Dadu Bajo started out making bespoke pieces with African fabrics, now the womenswear brand has released its Summer 2018 RTW collection.
Inspired by millinery and basketry, the collection titled Weavolution features dresses in houndstooth pattern, tie and dye (adire) fabric and hand woven fascinators.
According to the Creative Director, Damilola Awobajo:
Several of the garments were created with millinery fabrics however some were woven with twill patterns such as herringbone with lines that interlock. One of the garments was created with crochet fabric making the interlocking loops stand out. Some of the garments had fringed hemlines and sculpted flares, giving it a feminine silhouette.
Dadu Bajo is promoting African heritage and craftsmanship with hand weaving and the use of vintage Aso Oke and Adire which were heavily incorporated in the collection.
