Hey BellaStylistas, Mary Edoro here!
Every true fashion girl knows that fashion week is the busiest but most important time of the year! I was so excited to experience it all this year.
While at the BellaNaija Style HQ, we had months of planning and ensuring everything was properly put in place even to the very last detail (thus the stellar coverage *wink*), I was very unsure of what I wanted to wear and how I wanted to look during the biggest period in fashion and so had to embark on last-minute fittings. Gratefully, I had a number of talented designers to work with!
Feminine pieces, pinstripes, blazers are some of the trends that I had on my fashion week mood board and it was so much fun styling pieces that I actually felt comfortable in.
Enjoy this style diary of my Lagos Fashion Week 2018 looks and let me know which was your favourite look in the comments section below!
Day 1
I pride myself in being a complete DNA girl – young, fun and colourful! For the fashion business series dinner on Day 1 of fashion week, I was delighted to be wearing another piece from DNA by Iconic Invanity‘s Afro Neo Plasticsm collection, (remember the stunning blue and red midi dress I wore for LFW AW Presentations?)
The perfect fit, pretty colours and intricate hand beaded details won the night and a lot of compliments including one from my absolute fave Tamu Mcpherson!
I paired the look with slinky black sandals, a New Look purse and simple earrings from Davana Jewellery.
Day 2
I was in the mood to be comfortable while still looking chic and trendy and this JAN blazer dress served just that purpose. Because of the plunging neckline, I added this long “Africa” necklace from Davana Jewelry, after all the theme of this year’s LFW was Africa: Shaping Fashion’s Future! My brown croc skin Mecoso Handcrafted Bag was the perfect accessory for fashion week – power banks, tickets, passes, pen and notepad, painkillers and even a few snacks (lol) all fit into the roomy bag.
Day 3
The last day was another monochromatic look from the Rekana brand. I’ve been following this brand closely and totally fell in love with the set as soon as I tried it on. It was an edgy look but as you may have noticed, I like to look as effortless as possible hence the minimal colours and simple accessories.

I thoroughly enjoyed the experience at this year’s LFW as we could all see designers going back to the roots and traditions, not just with the pieces but also with the bold and unapologetic ways they presented their Spring/Summer 2019 collections.
Get ready, as we’ll be bringing you all the trends we spotted on the runways as well as our Editors’ picks of all the collections!
