Cheers to December… pa-rum-pum-pum-pum

It’s time to celebrate… pa-rum-pum-pum-pum

We made it through the year…pa-rum-pum-pum-pum

And 2020 does not deserve a do-over…pa-rum-pum-pum-pum

Coronavirus pandemic, self-isolation, lock down, social distancing, face masks, sanitizer, long queues at the store, empty shelves, TikTok, Working from home, EndSARS, vaccines and toilet paper – that’s 2020 in a nutshell. The year took us by surprise and in an instant, we began to live out the new normal.

It seemed like we would never get a break, but thankfully, things are looking up. December brings an unending schedule of events and weddings in Lagos. With most events postponed and parties placed on hold during the year, you can bet that anyone and everyone will be throwing a party or hosting an event this month.

Since it’s been the year of the new normal, it’s about time you try something different. Whilst it’s important not to let your guard down with the guidelines for staying safe, you should strike a balance and live it up. We’ve put together a list of what we call “Pa-rum-pum-pum-pum cocktails” to help you celebrate surviving 2020.

Brandy Alexandra

Nothing more Christmassy than a cocktail with some nutmeg. It’s a smooth blend of cognac, crème de cacao, and cream, garnished with nutmeg. A dessert cocktail that’s not too sweet. Brandy lovers, this is for you.

Mistletoe Margarita

We call this a “safe kiss” cocktail. Why? We all know that kissing under the mistletoe this season is cancelled. A Mistletoe Margarita is a twist to the classic recipe. Made with cranberry juice, lime juice, tequila and garnished with mint leaves. One of our favourites.

Flaming Cocktail

Add some pizazz and order a flaming cocktail. Out of the many options, we recommend you try the Flaming B-52. It’s made with Coffee liquor, Irish cream, Orange cognac and rum. Set fire to the rain!

Zobo cocktail

Zobo, also know as Hibiscus leaves is making an appearance on cocktail menus these days. Majorly found in Nigerian and African cuisine based Restaurants, this is definitely one to try. One of them is called Red-bottom made with tequila, zobo, lemon, tangerine and ginger. Delicious

House special

Every restaurant, lounge and bar has a house special. It’s a unique signature creation that has the DNA of the place. Since you’ll most likely be visiting a different place almost every night or every week, try a house special and get a first hand “taste” of the ambience.

Remember to drink responsibly and adhere to social distancing guidelines.

Enjoy!
