What on your to-do list today? A bit of yoga, brunch with the girls or quality time with bae? I don’t know what you’re looking forward to this Saturday but here at the BellaNaija Style HQ, we’re totally excited about #BAAD2017 and looking forward to Adesua Etomi‘s Weddings by Mai Atafo dress most especially. We also can’t wait to see what Andrea Iyamah is going to do for Adesua’s second dress, we can’t keep calm!
While we wait, I, Eki Ogunbor, will share my experience wearing a Weddings by Mai Atafo dress for the first time on Saturday last weekend. It was a day of firsts for me. I tried a ‘flexi rod/bendy roller’ set hairstyle, I put loose glitters in my hair and I wore a wedding dress!
Of those three things, the one I was least looking forward to was having glitters in my hair. I liked the idea of it and how it would look but I kept thinking how would I get it off? People will think I’m weird, how can I take glitter hair to work? But honestly, I was worried for no reason because everyone loved it. I’m actually thinking of doing it again, I’ll update you on that.
I wore a wedding dress for the first time and it wasn’t just any wedding dress, it was a one of kind piece by one of my favourite designers, Mai Atafo. This gorgeous dress from Weddings by Mai Atafo is from the designer’s recent Heart collection. It’s a baby blue, romantic strapless ball gown featuring elaborate pink floral embellishments, each hand stitched with love.
It’s not your traditional wedding dress, it’s more for the adventurous bride or an elaborate reception dress for a bride who’d like something different or a ball gown for a black-tie event. Another thing I absolutely love about this dress is the fact that it suitable for all body types as well.
It’s the perfect inspiration for this party season, a fabulous ball gown, shimmery eyeshadow and hair that sparkles.
Look out for the official photos from this shoot but for now, here’s Mai Atafo’s Heart collection featuring Bolanle Olukanni, Beverly Osu, Jemima Osunde, Wofai Fada, Linda Ejiofor and Idia Aisien.
The collection draws inspiration from Belle and her heart decisions in Beauty and The Beast. This is a perfect fit for the bride who follows her heart when picking her dress, without the constraints of the church and a budget or the influences of friends and family. The designer, Mai Atafo told BellaNaija Weddings that;
Decisions made with the heart are made out of love and love is the one thing that drives everything in life, this collection is an ode to brides and an inspiration to others because I always #FollowMAIHeart
We love how unconventional the colours are as Mai opted for blush, nude, pink, blue and paired them with soft corsets and couture structured gowns that express a modern day bride who has a strong heritage.
