On Saturday, April 27th African Menswear saw the launch of I.N Official’s SS19 Collection in a show that fused art, culture and military precision. Hosted by Celebrity Stylist and I.N Official Creative Director, Ugo Mozie the fashion show opened with a traditional Nigerian masquerade, who thrilled guests with its fluid movements and cultural significance.
The lush velvet pieces and gender fluid chiffon, paired with the disciplined military-inspired tailoring was presented among the artworks of young Nigerian artists and graphic designers to guests. Alara founder, Reni Folawiyo, talented musician Runtown and Mavin Music founder Don Jazzy were amongst guests, enjoying the show from the exclusive front row.
According to Designer and I.N Official Founder Ifeanyi Nwune:
The collection truly embodies the modern man and what it is to be African, this is represented through the use of different high-quality textures – from flowy chiffon to luxurious velvet, all matched with the power elements of the military tailoring. The collection exudes power, which is important for the modern African who is taking charge of their own narrative and how they present themselves to the world.
DJ Wayne set the vibe for the show in the customized Jameson wooden DJ Booth playing from the runway. The Jameson bar was also on site, with guests enjoying the Jameson Palm Wine Twist – a perfect infusion of Jameson Irish Whiskey, Palm Wine along with the Naija spirit, the Jameson Zobo Fusion cocktail and of course the Jameson Sprite & Lime signature throughout the show.
Odunsi The Engine surprised guest with a performance after the show, thrilling the crowd with 3 songs off his latest album Rare. The event also featured a pop-up shop where guests were able to shop limited edition pieces fresh off the runway. It was a smooth night of fashion, arts and culture, music, and Jameson vibes!
