The actress tied the knot in a Mai Atafo Inspired gown specially designed by the wedding maestro himself for the occasion.
When Kemi Akindoju (or as her 116 thousand Instagram followers know her, Lala) married chef Gbubemi Fregene in Lagos, Nigeria, it was the stuff of wedding fairytales. First, there was the picturesque setting: a garden with sweeping ocean views. Then the beyond gorgeous wardrobe, with both the bride and groom in custom Mai Atafo.
Her double tap–worthy dress was unbelievably modern but still felt stately and classic without being boringly conventional. Constructed entirely of silk and tulle – the neckline and back featured delicate tulle detailing and was completely devoid of lace, eschewing many traditional wedding dress elements. The demi-couture confection was teamed with a matching veil and simple jewellery.
For her second look, Lala was clad in a breath-taking custom silver jumpsuit by Ejiro Amos Tafiri. This jumpsuit was outlined in mini crystals, was far from ho-hum and we loved everything about it – from the cascading peplum to the tulle draped across the bodice and ending in a frou-frou bow on the shoulder.
Pearl earrings and nude makeup finished off both looks.
