Who else is completely over chocolates, flowers, reds, and pinks for Valentine’s Day? Too predictable! Call me whatever, but maybe as a creative, I’m forced to always think outside the box – normal is boring anyway. While magazines, online publications, restaurants, stores and literally everywhere I turn is loved up, offering the best deals for couples – really, I can’t help having a “been there, done that” feeling this period.

This year I’m ditching clichés and where better to start than with a makeover session?

So, I challenged myself, Royce Samuel of Ceezys Styling and Bisola of Bregha Beauty Studio to create the perfect look that encapsulated the affections and allure of the season of love with a hint of glamour.

Bregha went bold and dramatic with the makeup, after all, it is the year of the brave. Glossy dark purple lips met shimmering gold eyelids with a smokey side, which according to her was a perfect match for the gold undertones of my skin. The look had a very strong appeal that I could not resist and made me feel ultra-feminine but really bold.

Ceezy came in with sultry beach waves styling a three-toned wig from his hair brand, The Hairmpire, into a tousled “I woke up like this” look complete with on-trend side-parting. I have never tried these hair shades before and I was really excited to see how beautifully it looked on me.

The full look came together with a dinner-ready figure-hugging mini dress from Elpis Megalio. Cupid himself would have never forgiven me if I did not add the red marble La Luxe clutch purse – to tap into the occasion’s charm.

Valentine’s day is the perfect excuse to Treat yo’self and the ones you love. For me after this experience that made me feel like Allison in The Breakfast Club, I’ve found some new features I love about myself and rediscovered some old faves, so I’ll spend the day loving myself.
