When it comes to new hairstyles, I’ve practically experimented with everything under the sun- from grey jumbo twists to a tomato red pixie; regular everyday weaves and wigs, natural, relaxed, braids—you name it, I’ve tried it. So as you can imagine, over the years, it’s all started to feel a bit well, done. But when I caught the runway looks from this Lagos Fashion Week off schedule show – I was intrigued. Although there’s comfort in working with fail-safe, easy looks that mean you don’t have to do too much, where’s the fun in that?
There’s nothing quite like Fashion Week to bring the most interesting and expressive looks to life – and this Mazelle Studio show took the avant-garde hair and makeup and to a new level. And some of these looks are actually wearable.
From ‘Euphoria’ inspired eye shadow to the alte meets traditional threaded hair, and braids – there are no rules to be found here, just endless inspiration. See our favourite beauty looks from the Mazelle Studio Irapada show below.
So you aren’t keen to try out this threaded hairstyle IRL? That’s fair. But it’s worth noting that the full look would look fashion forward with denim and a tee. A new take on ‘high low’ or nah?
Barely there makeup and edgy Falana inspired braids – best believe we’ll be borrowing this aesthetic all season long.
It’s not for the faint of heart, but we’ll say it regardless: This impossibly chic bantu knot masterpiece would look positively modern with an evening dress.
Want to make this look work off the runway? Skip the hair gloves and; keep the bold braids and flawless, luminescent skin.
Graphic eye liner is a trend that just won’t quit—not only is it incredibly flattering it’ll definitely make a statement without seeming over the top.
Would you try these looks?
