In a bid to further breakdown the stigma that surrounds infertility, Merck Africa – the philanthropic arm of Merck KGaA Germany– has announced its call for applications for Merck More Than A Mother Fashion Awards in partnership with H.E Rebecca Akufo-Addo, the First Lady of Ghana and Accra Technical Institute And College Of Creative Design.
To be considered, fashion design students from both colleges are asked to submit designs that have powerful and empowering messages to infertile women and fosters conversations that aid to destigmatization of infertility.
In the words of Dr. Rasha Kelej, CEO of Merck Foundation and President of Merck More Than A Woman:
‘Designers, It is time to showcase your talent and contribute towards making a difference in society with your unique creations’
The closing date for applications is the 30th of June 2019 and the best ten submissions, which will be selected by the Merck More Than A Committee, will be granted $500 each and granted the opportunity to showcase at the Merck Africa Asia Luminary which will be conducted in Ghana on the 29th and 30th of October 2019. In attendance will be a crowd of one thousand from over 60 African countries as well as over fifteen African First Ladies.
