Ever found yourself playing stylist (in your head)? Especially as traditional award season gets safer and safer and stars fret over making sartorial missteps – it’s become harder to relish the red carpets like we used to. Bold choices that make you think ‘Whoa! That’s a LEWK’.

Anyway with LFW just ending, I decided to indulge in some day dreams – whether they’ll happen is of course debatable, and up to the actual stylists. Can you picture it? Jemima Osunde in Sisiano, Falana in Iamisigo, Adesua Etomi in Re Lagos. Here are a few of our favorite Lagos Fashion Week looks; pieces we’d love to see go down a red carpet someday.

Mo Agusto

Who we’d like to see it on: Oreka Godis

Why: It’s a beautiful colour for her, youthful but still sexy. Perfect for Rhecks, especially as she has been out of the game for a while.

Pair it with: Sky high heels and a bold red lip.

Gozel Green

Who we’d like to see it on: Ezinne Chinkata

Why: The uber stylist and retailer is known for her quirkier fashion choices and we wait to see how she’ll style this look with bated breath.

Pair it with: Anything Ezinne wants because she is magic.

IAMISIGO

Who we’d like to see it on: Falana

Why: Already a firm IAMISIGO favourite. This look is a no-brainer for her.

Pair it with: Signature hairstyle.

Sisiano

Who we’d like to see it on: Jemima Osunde

Why: This will definitely boost Jemima’s fashion cred, without straying too far from the petite beauty’s conservative style.

Pair it with: The key to taking this from a look to a LEWK is undoubtedly the hair and makeup.

Re Lagos

Who we’d like to see it on: Adesua Etomi

Why: Nigeria’s sweetheart is known for her adorable looks, we’d like to see her try something a little edgier and this Re Lagos number fits the bill.

Pair it with: Picture this look with bone-straight Naomi Campbell-esque hair, dark lips and killer heels. #obsessed.

Kenneth Ize

Who we’d like to see it on: Bolanle Olukanni

Why: The leggy beauty can do no wrong in a two-piece.

Pair it with: A crisp white shirt buttoned all the way up and Bolanle’s signature smile!

Style Temple

Who we’d like to see it on: Nicole Chikwe

Why: The statuesque beauty often plays with a host of different style sensibilities, effortlessly segueing from church chic to more feminine looks and back again.  The statement pants are exactly the kind of look we’d love to see her in.

Pair it with: A white tee shirt and chunky jewelry.

Sunny Rose

Who we’d like to see it on: Veronica Odeka

Why: We can see the ‘Style Mom’ in pretty much any piece in the Sunny Rose collection – her ability to cleverly switch up romantic colour palettes and edgier cuts mean she can style candy hued pieces without straying into overtly saccharine territory.

Pair it with: Fashion sneakers and a serious designer handbag.

Emmy Kasbit

Who we’d like to see it on: Bidemi Zakariyau

Why: The muted palette of this outfit is right up Ms Zakariyau’s alley, and we envisage the fashion forward cut will work well for her power publicist meetings, without sacrificing her signature style.

Pair it with: Makeup and accessories in the same muted hues.

Onalaja

Who we’d like to see it on: Idia Aisien

Why: Edgy but romantic this look is perfect for Idia, besides we really love her in fashion forward looks.

Pair it with: Killer makeup and heels, we also think the runway hair would work on Idia!

Orange Culture

Who we’d like to see it on: Michelle Dede

Why: Because who doesn’t love a ‘borrowed from the boys’ moment? And we know Michelle would knock this look out of the park!

Pair it with: Insouciant cool – that’s all you need, OC makes the statement.
