In a statement made by the Founder, Sarah Diouf:

For this instalment, I wanted to introduce a subject that I am passionate about, the “Made in Africa” label.

If you have been following our brand for a while, you know that producing in Africa is something we are proud of. Production on the continent is a great way to support and promote local artisans. People often ask me how I think the work I’m doing with Tongoro impacts my immediate environment? When I started this brand, the goal was to highlight local craftsmanship.

To me, the goals lie in the hands of the artisans, but we have yet to recognise the values or properly brand them. Increasing the number of brands that push for local production and training will improve our ability to promote the made in Africa label worldwide because of its excellence.
