It’s polo tournament season and Veuve Clicquot is set to bring back its one-of-a-kind VIP Experience to the Lagos Polo Club at the 2023 NPA Lagos International Polo Tournament for 2 consecutive weekends this month: February 11–12 and February 18–19.

Being an event attended by the crème de la crème in the fashion capital of Africa – the beautiful sunny city of Lagos – from celebrities and socialites to polo and champagne lovers, as well as international elite guests, we know that #BellaStylistas want our take on how to show up making a remarkable fashion statement at the event and that’s exactly what we bring you today.

The theme this year is Be Solaire. Solaire is of French origin and simply translates to Solar in English. Apart from the fact that the polo tournament happens outdoors, Be Solaire is an invitation to shine bright, bloom, and go astronomical, to be visible and to fearlessly express your gifts so that room can be made for you.

In Madame Clicquot‘s audacious and innovative spirit, wear bright colours, go bold and chic for this exceptional lifestyle experience. See style inspirations from the 9th edition of #VCPOLOLAGOS which was held in 2022 below:

Worthy of note as you prepare for this exclusive event is the fact that Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin is one of the world’s largest Champagne houses founded in 1772 and based in Reims, which lies east-northeast of Paris – one of the world’s fashion capitals; so, think high fashion.

Madame Clicquot, also known as the “Grande Dame of Champagne”, was a French Champagne producer who took on her husband’s wine business after she was widowed at 27. Under her ownership, and her skill with wine, the company developed early champagne using a novel technique. To date, the brand and company of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin still bear her name.

She has been credited with major breakthroughs such as, creating the first known vintage champagne in 1810, and inventing the riddling table process to clarify champagne in 1816. In 1818, she invented the first known blended rosé champagne by blending still red and white wines, a process still used by the majority of champagne producers. She played an essential role in establishing Champagne as a favoured drink of high society and nobility throughout Europe and by extension the world as Veuve Clicquot continues to expand her legacy around the world and across Africa. The company was purchased in 1986 by Louis Vuitton, now part of the LVMH group formed in 1987 and owned by the World’s Richest man of the moment – Bernard Arnault
